Rideau View Golf Club is an 18-hole private golf club situated in Manotick, Ontario. Designed by C.E Robbie Robinson and Howard Watson on a beautiful 200-acre property, Rideau View continues to be one of Ottawa’s premiere private Golf Clubs. Rideau View Golf Club has recently completed a renovation of our practice facility in 2021, as well as a complete bunker renovation to Better Billy Bunker in 2023.
Rideau View Golf Club is seeking a dedicated, detail oriented and hardworking individual to join our team. This is a full-time, year-round position. The Assistant Mechanic reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and the Equipment Manager.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Quality of cut for all golf course cutting equipment.
- Ensures Greens mowers are cutting and adjusted daily.
- Ensures Tee and Approach mowers are cutting and adjusted daily.
- Ensures Fairway mowers are cutting and adjusted weekly.
- Ensures all rough mower blades are replaced and sharpened on a regular schedule.- Evaluates quality of cut of all mowing equipment in use every morning.
- Monitors conditions of all cutting units and informs the Equipment Manager of any adjustments or repairs needed.
- Plans and maintains a grinding schedule with the help of the Equipment Manager around scheduled course practices and ensures all equipment is prepared in a timely manner.
- Performs or helps perform service on equipment under the supervision of the Equipment Manager.
- This includes, but is not limited to:
- Small engines.
- Gas- and Diesel-powered equipment.
- Hydraulic Systems.
- Electric powered equipment and systems.
- Maintains a clean and organized workspace to promote a safe working environment as well as adheres to occupational health and safety regulations.
- Aids with on-course maintenance from time-to-time as needed by the Golf Course Superintendent.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to identify and use a variety of hand tools.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems or an interest and eagerness to learn.
- Team and detail oriented.
- Ability to take direction and ask questions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
- Physically able to carry out the functions of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid drivers license.
- Ability to work flexible hours when needed.
- Proficiency in computer use, knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and other applications.
EXPERIENCE:
- Previous mechanical experience is preferred, but willing to train the right individual.
- Candidates with an interest in long-term employment with the club will be strongly considered regardless of prior experience.
