WELCOME TO THE 2024 OVTRF GOLF TOURNAMENT
The Ottawa Valley Turfgrass Research Foundation is thrilled to invite you to our Annual OVTRF Golf Tournament, a premier event that brings together professionals and enthusiasts from across the turfgrass industry. This year, we’re excited to host the tournament at Rivermead Golf Club, one of the most prestigious and historic golf clubs in the National Capital Region.
About Our Hosts Rivermead Golf Club
Founded in 1910, Rivermead Golf Club is a beacon of golfing tradition and excellence. Originally designed as a nine-hole course by Charles Murray and later expanded to 18 holes in 1915 under the guidance of George Cumming, Rivermead has continually evolved while maintaining its classic charm. The current layout, redesigned by Jeff Mingay in 2023, presents a par 72 course that spans 6,715 yards from the back tees and 4,730 yards from the forward tees. The course is renowned for its gently rolling terrain and lush tree-lined fairways, offering a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels.
Rivermead’s rich history is marked by its role in hosting numerous prestigious tournaments, including the 1920 Canadian Open and the 1925 Canadian Women’s Amateur. The club is also known for its longstanding tradition of excellence, which is epitomized by the Rivermead Cup, originally awarded to the Canadian Open champion and now presented annually to the top Canadian at the RBC Canadian Open.
In addition to its storied golf course, Rivermead boasts top-notch facilities, including an outstanding practice area with a driving range and a short game facility, ensuring that participants will have every opportunity to sharpen their skills before taking to the course.
We look forward to welcoming you to Rivermead Golf Club for a day of competition, camaraderie, and support for turfgrass research. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience one of the premier golf venues in Canada, all while contributing to a great cause.

The Rules & Prizes
The four-man best ball features teams of four players. In this format, each team's players play their own ball throughout each hole. The team's score for the hole is the lowest score shot by a single member on that hole. For example, if Player A and Player B are partners and one makes a 4 and the other a 5, with their own balls respectively, the group takes a 4 for that hole. The team then records its score and maintains that format for all 18 holes.
If participating in the BOJANGLE, the Superintendent and Golf Pro will keep a separate score card with their best ball.
For this tournament, men will tee off of the #3 TEES, women will tee off of the #5 TEES.
Give it your best shot! Prizes are to be won for closest to the pin (hole 2), longest drive (hole 12 with Aquatrols), closest drive to the hose (hole 11 with Vanden Bussche) and the teams with lowest score for best ball and bojangle. Also, pay$5 and try to beat the pro (hole 10). Winners names will be drawn from to win half the pot. The other half will go back to supporting the OVTRF.
