he Ottawa Valley Turfgrass Research Foundation is thrilled to invite you to our Annual OVTRF Golf Tournament, a premier event that brings together professionals and enthusiasts from across the turfgrass industry. This year, we’re proud to host the tournament at The Royal Ottawa Golf Club, one of Canada’s oldest and most historic golf clubs.

About Our Host: The Royal Ottawa Golf Club

Founded in 1891, The Royal Ottawa Golf Club is one of the oldest golf clubs outside of Britain and has played an important role in Canadian golf for more than 130 years. Originally established as the Ottawa Golf Club, the Club was granted the designation “Royal” in 1912 by permission of King George V.

The Club’s Main Course offers a classic golfing experience shaped by the natural landscape. Set amid the beauty of the Gatineau Hills, the 18-hole, par-71 course stretches approximately 6,600 yards and follows what is known as the “Scottish principle,” emphasizing the natural lay of the land rather than artificially created hazards.

The course’s rolling hills and natural contours create a unique challenge, while its fast, traditionally small greens and variety of tee positions provide an enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels. Designed to reward thoughtful play rather than simply power, The Royal Ottawa offers the kind of timeless golf experience that reflects its long history.

The Royal Ottawa has also welcomed some of the biggest events in Canadian golf, including the Canadian Amateur Championship, which the Club has hosted more times than any other club, and the 2000 LPGA tournament, won by Meg Mallon. The Club’s distinguished history also includes Canadian Open champions John H. Oke and Karl Keffer.
