GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT

Nestled along the picturesque Mississippi River just west of Ottawa, Mississippi Golf Club is one of Eastern Ontario's most respected semi-private golf clubs. Renowned for exceptional playing conditions, scenic beauty and a welcoming membership, the Club has built a reputation that extends well beyond the National Capital Region.

The Club serves approximately 450 members, welcomes more than 45,000 rounds annually, and maintains an annual Greens operating budget exceeding $1 million. Continuous investment in course conditioning, infrastructure and capital improvements ensures the Club remains one of the finest golf experiences in Eastern Ontario.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Golf Course Superintendent to lead and manage our agronomic operation and build upon the Club's proud tradition of excellence.

 

The Opportunity

Reporting to the President and the Board of Directors (with the Head of Greens as the primary Board contact), the Superintendent is responsible for all aspects of golf course maintenance and presentation. The successful candidate will work within Board-approved budgets and Club policies to preserve and enhance one of the region's premier golf courses.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all golf course maintenance and presentation operations.
  • Recruit, train and develop seasonal and full-time greens staff.
  • Develop annual agronomic plans and manage the operating and capital budgets.
  • Maintain exceptional playing conditions on the course and practice areas.
  • Oversee irrigation, drainage and water management systems.
  • Lead ongoing course improvement and capital projects.
  • Ensure full compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with the Board regarding course conditions and plans.  

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture or related field.
  • Five or more years of progressive golf course maintenance leadership experience, including time as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
  • Valid Ontario Pesticide License and IPM accreditation.
  • Strong leadership, team building, and budgeting skills.
  • Effective communication skills (listening, understanding and responding).
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with relevant agronomic and office software.
  • Valid driver’s license.  

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications ($85,000 to $110,000)
