ASSISTANT GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT

Role:  Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Duration: Full Time Seasonal (typically April-October)
Salary:  $28,000 - $35,000 (average of 42 hours per week)


ABOUT US

The Deep River Golf Club is a member owned public 9-hole, par 36 course established in 1952.  It was designed by Stanley Thompson and built by Howard Watson.  Located in the Ottawa Valley, it offers a scenic, well-maintained parkland-style layout, featuring 4 sets of tees, generous fairways and challenging sloped greens.  The course is known for its friendly service, a fully licensed clubhouse with a popular restaurant.   While playing as 9 holes, the course offers a challenging 18-hole experience.


Job Description

The Deep River Colf Course is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our team.  In this role, you will assist in the management and maintenance of our golf course, ensuring optimal playing conditions and enhancing member and public experience.  Responsibilities include supervising daily maintenance operations, irrigation systems, implementing environmentally sustainable agronomic plans, and assisting with budgeting and inventory management.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in turf management, general knowledge of golf course equipment, strong leadership skills, and a passion for the game of golf.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in turf management, agronomy, horticulture of related field
  • Knowledge of turfgrass management practices, irrigation systems and agronomic principles
  • Proven experience in golf course (including equipment) maintenance
  • Detail-oriented and proactive approach to problem-solving, with a commitment to delivering exceptional course conditions
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with a strong focus on Health and Safety culture
  • Pesticide applicator license, or commitment to securing one within first year of employment (considered an asset, not a requirement)
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends and holidays when required
