ASSISTANT GOLF COURSE  SUPERINTENDENT

Rivermead Golf Club known as one of Ottawa-Gatineau region’s premier private golf clubs is currently seeking the services of a highly-motivated, full-time, year-round Assistant Superintendent.  

Rivermead prides itself on being one of the top clubs in the region. Rivermead recently completed a long-range master plan for the course including architectural improvements that will ultimately improve the quality of the course for its members.

The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that the greens department team is performing its tasks to a high standard. Reporting directly to the Golf Course Superintendent, the Assistant will participate in and influence the daily activities, care, preparation, and maintenance of the golf course.

 

THE ROLE WILL PRESENT THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Manage, motivate and lead a team toward achieving a common goal
  • Utilize and implement programs to train, communicate and direct course maintenance programs
  • Influence positive results on a premier golf club 

QUALIFICATIONS AND UNIQUE TALENTS:

  • 3+ years’ experience in the golf course business.
  • Graduate of a recognized degree/diploma or short-course turf grass management program.
  • Experience in the safe operation of all golf course maintenance equipment.
  • To assist the golf course superintendent in the planning and implementing of all maintenance schedules, and capital projects.
  • Assist in the hiring of new staff.
  • Instruct all staff to safely operate and care for all course maintenance equipment.
  • Repair and maintenance of irrigation system.
  • Assist the mechanic when needed.
  • Supervise the completion of all daily tasks through regular interaction with all employees.
  • Assist in conducting staff reviews.
  • Positively interact with club members.
  • Experience with chainsaw and tree work with valid chainsaw certificate or willing to achieve one.
  • Construction and drainage projects.
  • Experience over seeding and sodding.
  • Bunker maintenance and repair.
  • Possession of or willingness to obtain a valid pesticide applicator’s license.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and excellent cooperation skills.
  • Effective communication skills – listening, understanding and responding.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience with irrigation, fertilizer and pesticide applications.
  • Solid understanding of the game of golf and how it relates to course maintenance.
  • Computer skills are an asset.
  • Knowledge of the French language is an asset.
