POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Irrigation Division Manager, the incumbent's main responsibility will be the installation of piping, valves, sprinklers and all components related to the proper operation of an automated irrigation system on a golf course.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Study plans, drafts and specifications;
  • Collaborate with foreman in planning daily work;
  • Measure and cut pipes using hand and power tools;
  • Meticulously assemble PVC and PEHD pipe sections, making fused, welded, threaded or glued joints and fittings of various sizes, adapters, sprinkler heads and swivel joints;
  • Install supports, valves, ducts and electrical components related to irrigation system control;
  • Install wires in trenches and make quality splices where necessary;
  • Clean trenches, backfill, compact and level head;
  • Ensures the transportation of the material to the site;
  • Maintains an up-to-date inventory of materials;
  • Start up networks and systems and ensure their proper operation;
  • Check network for leaks and proper operation;
  • Clean and maintain pipes and fittings;
  • Replace or repair damaged components;
  • Work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (“OHSA”), as well as internal policies;
  • Work effectively as part of a team.


EDUCATION AND TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Secondary 5 or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of golf course irrigation systems is an asset;
  • At least two years' experience in piping and wiring golf course irrigation systems;
  • Experience with HDPE and PVC pipe, or other experience related to the position;
  • Owning a CCQ Pipe Fitter card is an asset;
  • Good knowledge of English and/or Spanish is an asset;
  • Class 5 driver's license.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Permanent full-time position;
  • Salary starting at 20,88/hour;
  • Work schedule: daytime, 40 hours per week;
  • Monday to Friday, occasional Saturday;
  • Group insurance and RRSP after 3 months' service;
